Blessings abound...and you among them! Love the old photos of you! I have a similar story living in an unelectrified house with a wood stove over a mile in the woods. Such luck we had back then. And now...love flows to you and Beryl. Winter well. See you when the light returns.
In 1981, my husband and I began building a 24x24 cabin in New York state. We have been building cabins and houses of one sort or another pretty much ever since. So I especially enjoyed your musings on tiny houses. Then what a kick I got when I saw the final photo of you in that striped sundress. I had the exact same dress and I loved it! (It looked better on you, however. My arms were much too skinny for sundresses.). I wish you a happy solstice and a warm and cozy winter.
Carrie, that is too funny! The exact same dress. I think Lyn had one too. Super comfy and just the thing on a hot summer afternoon --no matter the size of one's arms.
And I'm so impressed with your continual commitment to construction. There is something about making a space exactly the way you want it --even if it changes from one dwelling to the next.
Such a delightful post! I loved the old photos! Reminds me of when I first met you at the Ren Fair in Moscow, with all your hand spun, machine knitted items for sale! Wishing you happy cozy times for solstice and beyond!!
Such fun seeing these photos of you and just how intricately woven into your life a tiny house really is!! So cool! Wishing you and Beryl a most delicious time nestling into winter and all the creativity it has to offer!
Oh my!! I loved this letter SO much. Thank you, Sarah, for your company this year. I look forward to adventures with you and Beryl next year. Huge hugs! Jeni
Well I feel the same way about you. Reading about Albee (and seeing you two adorable creature with Paddington), all while listening to rockabilly Jingle Bells was a most excellent way to begin my day. Thank you!
such lovely thoughts and photos! we, too, lived in a tiny cabin but on a lake in Minnesota. now we are on to a warmer existence in New Mexico. Enjoy your end of year warmth with Beryl. Thanks for the Gusset. Love all your posts.
HA! too funny. And yes-- small houses with more than a gal and her dog can get claustrophobic indeed. I shared the tiny house in the pictures with a guy for one winter and though we did fine, it definitely required a great deal of careful maneuvering. The bliss of privacy is not an insignificant thing to be sure.
You two have a glorious, tucked in, end of year!
Happy Winter! ♥️
Have a lovely, peaceful time - but don't forget to come back.
Hard to imagine that! I love being here.

What good fortune indeed that we got to do such things. Those woodsy cookstovey years were (and are) treasures. Love that you share them.
Winter joy to you as well.
Great life journey (and even better with a dog)!
Isn't that the truth!

Oh golly Kate. Wasn't that a grand time. And isnt' it still-- grey hair and all.
You still have that same wonderful smile and delight for life—shared so fabulously in your blog!!
❤️🧡🐑

And sending the same back to you and yours. Bertie not least!
Enjoy your solstice sheltering.
And you🐑
I love love love that blue weaving with the moon ❤️
Why thank you so much Anna. Nothing like pure value is there (especially when it's indigo). Almost cut paper! ✂
Love seeing those old photos of you Sara and an earlier glimpse of your life. What a remarkable woman you've always been.

New Mexico. What an exquisite Place. And Minnesota too. So very different from one another and yet.... both enticing.
Have a gentle time welcoming back the longer days. Happy Solstice!
Love your tapestries (I'm a weaver myself).
HATE small houses. We live in a house that's less than 1200 sq. ft. There's absolutely NO place to get away from each other.

Love your weavings and . . . everything else! Hope you and Beryl have a lovely holiday!
