That was a hard decision! I want to see all things you create. This will be fun to see what you come up with in that creative mind you have!! Weave on!!

I'm ridiculously excited to see what comes out of this too. The winning (at least so far) vote combinations have surprised me and seem like they will provide a bit of a luscious challenge...

I love all the things you do....all the fibers....functional or not...looking forward to seeing what comes of this.

Thank you Beverly -- for your kind words and your confidence. It's feeling thrilling and different already.

I, for one, am not interested in what others would like to see you do. Any of these projects of creation take time, which, as we get older, is in increasingly short supply. I hope the generative idea for your next project wells up from within yourself, to warrant the time and effort involved in taking it to completion.

Thank you Barbara, for these excellent words. I have to say that my inner younger selves are not at all interested in what others what me to do either-- and are shocked that I'd even attempt such a thing --and the comics that arose from their disapproval were just the first of what has proven this wee, to be a wealth of delicious ad unexpected ideas. Which actually turn into something remains to be seen, but I feel oddly stimulated and thrilled and am filled with curiosity -- all of which is a treat. Who knew???

Actually, anything that brings on "a wealth of delicious and unexpected ideas" is a treasure in itself! Grab onto them and see where they take you. You and your work have had a profound influence on me, keeping me optimistic and encouraged as I learned to weave tapestry, and work through larger and more complex projects. I will thank you endlessly for that influence!

I spent a stormy (outside) morning (inside) going through all my stash of wool and other raw materials. I am trying to decide what to do with it all. Your poll has be thinking even harder about what really matters when it comes to exploring the next step. I know that drawing is high up on my list!

Isn't that great when something makes us look at what we're doing from a different angle? The other night I had a dream that had nothing to do with what I'm doing, but which brought an idea right to the front of my brain I didn't even know was there. Crazy helpful. So glad the polls provided a kind of nudge for you as it seems to be doing for me.

I'm reminded that a gusset is a piece of cloth that helps give room under the arms if a blouse is fitting a bit too snug. So, some added dimension would be great and I look forward to your response to your curious step into the open spaces! Carry on, we love what you consider and find inspiration with your queries.

Yes indeed -- that's one of the things that made The Gusset such an appropriate metaphor. So important to be able to wave our arms wildly about, isn't it -- even when we've no idea where we are or what we're doing?

As I was reading your post, I was thinking about Rebecca's "Summer of Tapestry" course. And then you mentioned it! This is my second summer taking the course and it IS a blast. Just taking time to have fun and get back to the unfettered joy of creating. Go for it!

Oh wow. SO glad you're taking Rebecca's course -- for the second time! So cool. And I totally agree--the brilliance of doing things that remind us about the unfettered joy of exploration, noticing and creation.

Personally, I am inspired by your fabulous knitted sweaters... all of which are with character, or various techniques. Next - I have always been blown-away by your woven tapestry adventures - all of them! And as well, I have to say, that I am always challenged by summer pesky time flies - regardless of the creative project embarked upon... and of course, loving every minute. Thus - What about the idea of small format pictorial woven tapestry - in which your immediate environment has been captured - one for each summer month. On the Summer Solstice, one could celebrate (dance) with one unique piece, using materials from your immediate surroundings, (say, 100 meters from your front door). (?) Hmm...

Thank you Madeline. I'm fascinated by the idea of limiting the finding to a specific radius. Will definitely cogitate on that -- especially as it seems "random things I find" is the winner in the materials category. So far the results have generated all kinds of wild and fun ideas and I look forward to finding ways to narrow them down just a teensy bit, so many thanks for the thoughts.

Well, this could be enormous fun! And thank you for more Beryl. Are you planning to ask her opinion, or are you pretty sure that she's really not bothered so long as walks, food and cuddles are provided?

She sure does have opinions--I've. been learning from this weeks' comics (I never know for sure till I start to draw). But walks and cuddles and quiet time outside most definitely figure prominently and will probably influence the direction this goes....

Oh my goodness - I voted, but really, any and all are my favorites. Participating is a-musing, but your muse seems to know you well! Beryl?

I love your concept of collective design! I'll watch gleefully as you work through whatever the hive mind comes up with, but I'm hoping you'll end up weaving a tapestry of one of your charming cartoons featuring the unspoken, wise, kind editorializing of your glorious dog! And then I want to buy it!!

Gosh dearest Pru -- that is good to know. I will certainly bear it in mind. I haven't woven a blue dog in a long time (though I did once weave a tapestry by that name -- not just the Blue Dog Motel), and it'd feel really good. But WHICH comic? It could take a year to pick the right one.
