Hooray for libraries!! I second their support. My local library has displayed my tapestries of all things! May the internet folks be able to dig whatever trench they need... are they putting in cable because that is worth the wait!!
I would feel so cut off without internet, I don't know how you feel. And yes, libraries are terrific, I have a very nice one just down the street from me and I use it a lot. Thank you to Andrew Carnegie who spent some of his wealth making sure we have a public library system. A very good thing to come from a robber baron. Love the video of your walk with the excellent viewpoint!
Yes, it’s been odd—especially at first—though I’m getting used to it. Or I should say that I WAS getting used to it, but I just check out a mobile hotspot from the library so suddenly have a fast connection at home and it’s kinda wild!
Love THIS! Your art, your activities, your perspective and, of course, Beryl! I am recently back into library-mode after a long hiatus (not one of my choosing). Currently teaching myself how to watercolor and the Moscow Public Library and the Latah County Library District are feeding me a steady diet of amazing books on the subject. Of course, browsing leads to buying, many used, but also new from our local bookstore, BookPeople of Moscow. So happy Earth Day everyone! Support libraries, re-use books and support your local book stores!
Please make sure to vote in the latah county library board election on May 20. Vote for Annette, Marcie and Rochelle. They are the 3 incumbents and will make sure our library stays vibrant.
THIS finally answers my silent question - sort of - whether you moved closer to your son or closer to the cabin. And THIS getting a library card was also the first 'official' act I did when I moved last year, because libraries are one of the best inventions od humankind, just after books, and the wheel for making bicycles . And again THIS was a lovely read!
Thank you! Love knowing that you too got your library card first thing. And Yes— I’m nowcloser to son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter which is lovely. Independent lives but easy to get together for a walk or a meal or to borrow a thing…
So glad to hear that you have a very friendly library. We used to have many here and in neighboring counties. Sad to say several have changed and are far less perky then they used to be. Can't say just why this is so. Perhaps in part the results of lockdown during Covid? One thing that is troubling is that my local library relies on a renewal of its site by our town, which has become very conservative and not particularly library friendly ... as in let's not get too woke. This and the current push to reduce Federal dollars for anything considered progressive (like education) is alarming for me. Please throw a few sticks for Beryl to fetch for me and give her an extra squeeze.
Gosh it is hard when people who are not friendly to libraries think they need them to go away — or change dramatically. They seem to be being challenged all over the place, so not things we can take for granted a minute, eh?
Thanks for understanding. I have been thinking that I might write to Bill Gates for support. His Foundation provided computers to our libraries, back when computers were a new thing. I know he strongly supports reading. He could give billionaires a whole new look! :-)
Thank you for the lovely walk. I needed that. First chance I get I am getting a library card. Doors are closing but always a new door opens. Positive thinking. Thank you again Sarah.
I see you are spinning on a lovely little Turkish drop spindle made by Wanda and Ed Jenkins. Aren't their drop spindles a joy to spin on? I always have one with me with a couple of carded rolags of fiber for those odd moments of time when spinning is the answer! At our town meeting day here in Vermont I spun three fine little balls during the long meeting!
Oh golly aren’t the Jenkins spindles WONDERFUL??? I’ve been spinning on that little kuchulu for years and years and years now—as you say, at meetings, in cars, while sitting on the floor since it is so small. A true spinner’s dream and life changer. Love that you could identify it.
Seems like you've landed in a good place, even if you have to wait for the thaw for real at home connectivity. Meanwhile, enjoy a little blissful disconnection, and happy trails....
My friend doesn't have a cable connection so she gets her internet through the cellular service, which isn't always reliable. My cellular service is sketchy because I live on a hill that blocks most of it, so we use the internet to get cell calls. Using the library is a great idea and resource. I guess we all can find some way to make it work.
It’s true— finding work arounds, if not always ideal, can be weirdly satisfying. And I just learned that I could check out a hotspot from said wonderful Library, so am now working at home. Who knew?

I love love love my local libraries! For so many reasons.
THIS Gusset was simply inspiring! Carry On!
Oh gosh, thank you!

Agreed! Voting locally, especially when it comes to libraries, is extremely important! Sure hope they get elected!
As the Rochelle in that sandwich, I agree, and thanks!
I love all of...
THIS!

Thank any and all deities for public libraries. They are truly the cornerstone of a civilized society.
Couldn’t agree more.
Love this. 🤗

You’re my girl for so many reasons! One being bundled up in multiple scarves, parka and hat — while being barefoot in hail. Perfect 🤩
Ha! it’s ridiculous but true. Then again, my feet have been in training for a long time…

Libraries are the best!
This librarian (retired) says so.
