Oh, Sarah. Nothing is more disquieting than moving house. But I find the sound of your paper weft sliding against wool warp oddly soothing. You could make loads of videos like this and marketing them to the ASMR aficionados.
Sarah, I feel like you are on old friend! I so love to see your name pop up in my email. Thank you for inspiring , entertaining and generally making me feel better about life!
Having just moved from Seattle to Albuquerque I feel your boxes and books! The back and forthing is wonderful and keeps you, and us, grounded. I wish you the best with the move and that Beryl finds her peace also.
Swimming laps across your loom seems soothing. It reminded me of a harp, sort of twangy.... maybe if the strings were different lengths? This is really happening, isn't it? I was looking at a map of Idaho, trying to imagine where you and Beryl will land, near to that dear little curly one.
I must be blind, I’m not seeing the Beryl button, where is it located? Great idea, by the way. I moved 3 years ago, was away one of those years, I’m still unpacking. Must not have parted with enough belongings before the previous move. Of course, if I parted with the big looms, spinning wheels, and more,… but not ready to do that yet. Take care of yourself, and enjoy the adventure!
Oh the sounds of the tap-tap-taping on that tight warp, the easy flow of your hands picking, I am craving that feeling. Will be a few weeks before I can, due to helping my husband recover from heart surgery. Planning on a piece for ANWG to display with the theme of 'Yakima'. And looking forward to doing the tap-tap-tapping myself on a tight warp. 😉
This is a really beautiful post. I love your weaving, narrative and drawings! Have a lovely day. 💜

Oh my. Daunting. Thank goodness for Beryl and fiber.

Good luck with all of this Sarah. Also, that is the best button ever!
Just had to click it.

Three videos of backing and forthing is not too many!
I could watch and listen to your weaving for hours.
May the move be smooth and may you & Beryl find peace in your new place.

But are you settled in yet to a new place? Does it have good windows?
Back and forthing makes everything ok
The videos weren't overkill! I found the sound and the movement so soothing. Thank you.
