Ya know, if next week you wrote about weaving the word "rocket" because you'd built one to soothe a yearning to traverse the moon, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.
oh my goodness the words the words. i hate selvage, it's selvedge dammit. and speaking of edges, my friend john green taught me that the edges are where the richness lies, the edge between field and woods, for example. anyway edgy people, even if relatively quiet and calm are the most interesting ones to know and love. i mean, they know about things like wild dress and four selvedges and kami-ito made out of an edgy material, which makes it ever so much more complete(ly) edgy.
oooh thanks for this: "edges are where the richness lies." So true. It's where the milkweed grows too, and so many other interesting plants. Between shore and river, on the verge of roads....yes. And for all the comfort and longing for security, there is something about being slightly on the edge --at least creatively-- that keeps one's eyes and heart open. But you know all this cuz you live here too.
Geeeting from a warm Rural place in Victoria Australia… again. I love the large spheres. I could see them in my back paddock and the alpacas playing with the orbs. What a beautiful thought.
Thank you for inspiring me both textile wise and general crafting. I grabbed a handful of fleece and walked to the front drive, using my newly acquired Walker and spun on a very small Turkish spindle. It was funny to watch cars slowing down as they passed, just trying to work out what I was doing.
I am so glad your vest brings you such pleasure! And I love all your woven words, especially ooqs! You absolutely need to weave make and mend, because oops goes with them, in my world! 🤣 I love your willow orbs! I had to look up willows, and how to grow them, and I'm intrigued. Also looking into woad! Sarah, you keep me busy! 🤣
The world of willow is truly enticing --so many varieties, so many ways they can weave their way into our lives. Working with the bark alone (you can get a bast-like fiber from it), could keep a gal entranced for years. And baskets. And fences. And orbs that do nothing except perhaps lead to simple delight... Have fun exploring!
oh how WONDERFUL the world of Terry Prachett and the lovely books he wrote!! yes, indeed the world is better with the humor of those lovely books! I have often wanted to do some letters on my new found copper loom, thanks for this lovely close up of some of the letters, i will start this in my next tapestry! :) Thanks for making all the edgy ness more understanding!
Love the felted vest and again word weaving, you bring me enjoyment 🙏💓

Gosh, is there a four letter word that is a synonym for rocket? And I still have't woven "moon."
Omigawd, you are SO CHARMING!!
Weaving more wonders with willows and words!
vine? twig? bark? root?
I've woven bark and root (also tree and leaf). But not vine or twig! Thanks. Love them both. And I could do with some more V words...
vale? veil? viol?
vote!
good ones! I'd have woven viol long since except, alas, two syllables..... Vale I love. Thanks!
