Oh, Sarah, how I love sweet Beryl and her patience! AND yes, there is green underneath all the winter colors, but perhaps a trip to western WA is in order to see some evergreens?
Evergreens are astonishing aren’t they—though I’ve been getting a green fix recently from little bits of moss that seem to glow no matter the weather.. or maybe even more with all the moisture we’ve been having?
Sarah, you hit the mother lode with moss. In the San Juan’s, it completely dries out in the summer, and the slightest moisture plumps it up. I think it’s a very efficient and resourceful plant. Robin Wall Kimmerer’s first book was on Mosses.
And a marvelous book it is. Robin Wall Kimmerer is a miracle, isn’t she? And oh ny yes— the PNW is moss heaven. Even the inland bit where I live. AT least, as you say, in the right season…
Gorgeous, as always. And this one dropped at an extraordinarily apt moment. I turned to the phone after a 2 day project crocheting - why, yes, a green woollen dog jumper, because it's so very cold out there.
Oh what a lucky dog. That sounds scrumptious. And I bet they would look really good with Beryl when she’s decked out in her black and white and red dog coat!
Mmm, cosy times! Here in Texas we are looking forward a couple of snow days and I am laying out the things I need: books, yarn, spindles, wool. Just found a strick of Flax, and some nettle. I probably should check the pantry, too.
Oooh— I hope your snow materialized and your stash of deliciousness did you proud. But however did you choose? Nettle, flax, spindles, wool, yarn, books? How not to want to be with them all at once?
I settled on attempting to finish some old projects: knitting, plying the dozen or so tiny balls of singles and continuing a big mending project. We had more rain than snow, but I still got to stay home!
Welcome back! I missed you! Even on my holiday, I missed the gusset! I sis take the pin loom and lots of yarn and crochet hooks. One niece asked for a bracelet a day, which she got, and a blanket on the big “woom” .
I love going for walks with you and Beryl! My own physical mobility is somewhat limited (at least for now) so I relish these virtual hikes, especially as they are accompanied by musings about fiber and its possibilities.
Gosh thank you Deborah. I’m so happy to hear this. Not that you’re mobility is limited just now (what a tricky thing to adjust to), but rather that you are with us on our wee strolls..
I love green and want everything green. It is soothing and calm and presents it'self as strong. It goes with anything. I have just fell for GREEN****** Happy New Year
I love green. It is MY color in almost everything I wear. Very calming and heart centered.

Maybe green is the color that we 'dream' of as the winter doldrums settle in. I have green double-knit mittens on my needles.
What a delicious thought. And what yummy sounding mittens!
Green yarn is always good. Green is my thing, which anyone who knows me will attest to. It also suits Beryl beautifully.
Best wishes to you both for the new years.
It is impossible to resist green when the world goes all grey and white and brown, eh?
And best new year wishes to you as well.
Brilliant post, has made me smile... And questio if I wear enough green myself 😁

Ah, the most living color, all woods and mosses, and good dog cuddles. It doesn't get much better than that!
It certainly doesn’t. ❤️
Thank you, Sarah! I love green, I think, because it’s the color of plants:).

I guess I have my work list ahead of me!
A bracelet a day! Those is one very fortunate niece. Though how not to adore a person such a taste in hand made bracelets?
Perfect, and contentment to you as well.
Thank you! Happy new year to you and Beryl too 🙂
What a sweet narrative!

Love this so much. Makes me happy. Green is good.
Please show the rest of the blue sweater you're wearing while you re-knit the green yarn. :-)
