Dearest Sarah, beautiful courageous heart….thank you for every drop of this goodness. Standing near you in each step and thinking of you daily in the unfolding new adventures…grateful for these glimpses. Savoring the whole ride and adventure with you is so special-I appreciate each piece that you share with the world. You make us all braver :-) Brightest blessings in the unpacking and discoveries…and cheers to ALL the feelings.
Oh golly Priya, sending the very same words and thoughts to you. All the feelings. All the bravery. And oh my, the adventures we’re each on. Thank you for being by my side.
Welcome Back! I was just thinking about you this morning, hoping the move went well and that you and Beryl would check in soon. Wishing you all the best as you settle into your new patch of sunshine and prepare to take on your next chapter.
Most days, I'm just grateful to have yet another chapter to explore. To quote Benjamin Franklin, "When you're finished changing, you're finished." And I doubt he meant "finished" as in polished and perfected.
iPad in hand, a ding, and there was The Gusset, Sarah, and Beryl! You are both safe, the move is done, and adventures in this new life begin! Love that you are weaving already, the boxes can wait a bit, this is the best way to begin in your new home.
I am sorry for that loss. I understand that loss. My world got turned upside down in 2018 after 50 years. Casting on does help. Hope you have a good weekend planned. Linda
I am so happy that you are safely settled. Pulling up metaphorical roots, and replanting oneself in a new place is hard. You are off to a good start. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Sarah, sending great big hugs to you and Beryl and my true admiration for getting this job done! So glad to hear that you had a very good crew to help! Can't imagine pulling this off in that cold, cold snowy weather! Sweet Beryl!! I see her taking in her new digs and you and new trails! May you both take good rests and let your new place become home. Many thanks for touching bases with us!!
So beautiful to hear your voice again and follow firsts with you and Beryl. I loved that you warped your loom in the chaos. It’s exactly the kind of thing I would do if I were sitting amongst a pile of boxes! Solidarity. And here’s sending you lots of warmth and kindness in your new home.
Of course you would put on a warp. I mean you’re the glorious being who finds looms and companions in dumpsters and song ideas in stories —and doesn’t hesitate to bring them all to life.
Was thinking about you recently and then here you are!! So lovely to have you pop into my inbox! And glad all went well with the move. I am only cleaning out one bedroom of crafts and very challenged about what to keep and what will I never do again. I can only imagine how challenging it was to release so much your 'stuff' and the house as well. You did good Sarah!
It is HARD isn’t it? The only thing that helped me was that I have somehow (perhaps deliberately), been using up (and not replacing) my myriad materials for a while. That made less to move so left room for a lot of different tools…. NO idea what i”ll do once the materials start to build again though as this place has almost no storage.
So good to have you back safely at your new home. Beryl taking it all in her stride, I see. What a gal!
We got excited last week that we'd sold and bought but it's all gone awfully quiet on the solicitor / surveyor front ...Nowhere near to finding a moving crew.
Best wishes for the future and I so look forward to hearing that it has been A VERY GOOD THING. x
Oh phooey. May the next buyer come along with all the dreams and hopes and belief. Such a thing to be on that side of the equation isn’t it? Selling my house was a big worry but I got VERY lucky and a young couple found me— the unconventional things about my house just what they longed for.
Pleased to report that all is now progressing and the sorting, gifting, recycling and a little chucking has started. But the fluff and the yarn ARE coming! No apologies, even if we have to use the boxes as furniture...
So true, all those thoughts and lasts and firsts! Welcome to your new home. Wherever beryl is, is home. She probably thinks that, too, only vice versa.
Hats off to you Sarah....you are so brave and courageous.....Keep it up! We are never too old to make a fresh start...from an old girl who's made lots of fresh starts. It's so good to have you back in my Inbox Sarah and Beryl.....awonderful start to any day! Thankyou so much!

Thank you Sandi! Your Substack has been a lovely companion these last weeks. And what is the next chapter? Only one way to find out, eh? Cast on….

Yes changes and memories remain. I still have some treasures my husband made, he passed in 1998 but those memories will always be there.
“Today is the first day of the rest of your life” I use this saying often.
Enjoy your new home🙏😍🌈💐

Thank you Elaine, for the reminder of those lovely and oh so important words.

You are an inspiration in courage, Sarah. All the best in your new digs!

I so admire how you cartoon your adventure and allow us to go with you!
Thank you Angel. Who knew when I started cartooning that pen and ink could express so much?

Thank you Lynda—for the kind words and for the reminder that fresh starts can keep showing up.
I'm glad you moved safely, all that you took with you is still with you, and Beryl continues to be wise and calm.
Honestly, the wisdom of Beryl truly kept me grounded. And still does. When in doubt, cuddle or take a walk. Works every time…
Hello! good to "hear" your voice again!
