I loved the close-ups of your warp. Such wonderful texture. But the pileated woodpecker video stole my heart. I’ve not seen one live, and had not until yours even seen a good video of one. That was such a treat. Thank you!
it was pretty amazing to see that woodpecker just off the trail and am so glad you liked it. I hope I never stop being astonished by such magnificence.
Always good of you to share the process. Also good to be reminded that even with years of experience, sometimes one has to wait for things to find the right moment. Experience is a wonderful teacher! Thanks for sharing your pretty June weather!
Thanks for sharing the link to the weaving songs. They remind me of when we were in Garden Valley and you sitting in the stone bathroom playing your concertina because the acoustics were so good!! Great memories! Nice capture of the piloted!
you're so welcome! a gal can never have too many weaving songs, eh? And gosh, I'd forgotten that moment in garden valley. Thank you for the memory! Sending all the good stuff to you.
Really? You mean you do that too? Wind on a warp and wait?!! One never knows, eh? What lovely elemental photos of your warp. .... Thank you for The Session link for tunes. ❤️. ... Although I often scratch and peck away at projects, I've always thought woodpeckers have a tough way to make a living.
And I'm glad to know you do it too -- the make a warp and wait thing. Reminds me of a watercolorist I once knew who would stretch paper (it was a whole process of dampening the paper and taping it just so and letting it dry), just to have it ready when inspiration struck
Oh thank you for the link to the music. I immediately grab my recorder and started playing. Wonderful to have some new tunes. Here's a link to another great free sheet music site -
well there's a rabbit hole! clicked the link and had to try some Scott Joplin --which, I must say, sounds a little lugubrious on a baritone concertina. bet it's great on a recorder though!
thanks. and me too. hopefully Beryl will get used to it. And I think the Baritone concertina is gentler on her ears than the treble. I wish I could explain to her that she's lucky I don't play the penny whistle!
Beautiful photographs and insight. I too share the excitement of starting and I’m trying to relax into not knowing what I’m going to do. Thrilling and terrifying in equal measure!
I love that your crosses are near the bottom beam. Your warp up first before design inertia is like a catchy tune, a wave of possibilities momentum.... okay awaywego... xoxo
A wonderful reverie on taking the first step or two on a new journey, destination not yet known.
You, you know, are on my next study list for Arty Bird intermediate weaving along with Archie B. I can't wait to spend more time with your work & hopefully fill my summer with inspirational insights.
Jasper spaniel still with us but walks no longer as heroic as Beryl's. Sends woofs xx
Quoi? the Arty Bird study list? how incredibly flattering to be in such company as Archie. Delightfully, I was just thinking about him as I wound some bobbins, remembering the time he talked me into switching from butterflies to bobbins--or at least into going home and committing to weaving one tapestry with just bobbins to see how it felt by the end. And of course he was right. I never looked back. Brilliant, amazing man. Thanks for bringing him into my thoughts yet again.
Such beautiful open warp 🤩…

I hope the warp soon shares its plans with you.

Warps, Walks and Wild Birds, what a lovely post!! Your ideas will rain on you soon, I have no doubt!!

I love the look of empty warp so much! All those neat parallel threads are so appealing.
yes. me too. that's it exactly.

So much potential in that warp! And I love that you're back to playing your concertina. Beryl will just have to deal. :)

Love the light and perspectives in your photos…and that glorious very conversational piliated woodpecker!

It’s a pterodactyl!
yes indeed it is! feels sooooo prehistoric
Not weaving the woodsii rose? Great piliated woodpecker video!

The incredible richness of contentment with simplicity….
