Lovely winter-y scenes indoors and out! I love the micro approach to spinning that old fleece of mine! I do have some that are just as old! 🤣

It's such a treat to experience the glory of these "old" fleeces a lock at a time.

Thank you!! You ground me and keep me to the essentials . . .including Beryl, the wool and bunny.

Sarah C Swett's avatar

I'm glad the bunny got to have a moment as, alas, ki has now melted away.

What a delight to see your post just now, bringing joy when we need it so so much! Fierce joy, as Heather Cox Richardson said this week! You’re bringing it! So thank you. ❤️

Fierce joy. That's it exactly. Thank you (and Heather Cox Richardson), for those perfect and oh so helpful words.

Good to see snow and moisture somewhere! we are painfully dry and snowless here in northern Colorado, both mountains and Front Range. We've had 1 snowstorm this season, 5" in Nov. Looking like a fire dangerous parched spring and summer coming up.😕😕

I hear you Heather. Here on the Olympic Peninsula of WA state we have not only had no snow, we have only barely touched freezing a couple times in November!! It has been 40s and 50s day and night with tons of rain since then. I am hoping for a February cold stretch with snow, which has happened in recent years. And yes the fire danger danger and low water levels are both very concerning, as there is no new snow in our mountains. All of our state's populated areas get their water from our mountain snow pack. A little snow would be good. A lot of snow would be better as our summer have been very dry for the past several years. Wishing you a late burst of winter in Northern Colorado!

Sarah C Swett's avatar

YES to both of you. Every inch of snow feels precious (even when I'm a little grumpy about shoveling). Alas, much of what we had has since melted and I can only hope more will come, especially in the mountains as we, too, depend on it for water supply and of course for fire prevention. Sending snow hope to both of you--and everyone in the west.

Oh, Sarah, how I love the crunching sound in the snow.

Mmmmm…Cormo. My favorite!

It is just so yummy, eh? Creamy and bouncy and long-locked with a glow that many fine fleeces don't have. I think it might be that bit of Lincoln in their ancestry.

Thank you Sarah & Beryl ♥️♥️♥️

This micro approach to spinning is brillaint - working an ounce at a time instead of the whole fleece makes so much sense. I used to get overwhelmed trying to process entire fleeces and would loose steam halfway through the carding. The way you're letting each step breathe instead of rushing to the finished sweater, that's gotta make the final piece way more satisfying since every ounce gets its full attention.

Sarah C Swett's avatar

Yes--that's it exactly. Each step can breathe, one's body doesn't get exhausted by too much repetition (though enough that there is still plenty of restful rhythm), and best of all, each step gets to be a treat--a treat with a purpose and place to go.

I'm so glad you had shoes on for this walk! Looks like an entirely different wonderland with all that white - be it snow or fleece. There is nothing like the crunching of the snow...

Sarah C Swett's avatar

Shoes-- they are wondrous things for sure! Bare feet in snow, though I've tried it, briefly, is both slippery (the foot warmth melts a layer of snow with each step) and, naturally, kinda chilly!

that is a stunning loaf of bread and what beautiful perky ear-I need to read more about Spelt-thanks for all the wintry white beauty in all its forms❄️🐑🧶🩵

Your moose drawing is quite enchanting.

Sarah C Swett's avatar

Why thank you! It was fun trying to figure out how to portray all the quiet drama of that moment in the almost pitch black...
